Statue and Epigraph in Latin
Our Mother and Father Tongue

Latin Course

Would you like to read the Latin texts of the Bible, or the speeches of Cicero, or the Adages of Erasmus directly with the same ease with which you read a text in Italian?

Understanding and speaking Latin means learning the language that constituted our culture, and it must be learned as one does with a modern language.

In the lessons, common techniques currently used in the teaching of living languages are applied. In this regard, the richness of classical Latin is presented through teaching texts that follow one another, marking the natural progression of learning living languages.

Right from the first lesson, the course is conducted in Latin, and students are invited to use the language in dialogue with each other and with the teacher. The vocabulary and grammatical structures employed are those of classical Latin, the language that reached its perfection during the 1st century B.C. and was then transmitted in the works of the greatest authors from Antiquity until the Renaissance, and which is still taught today in educational centers all over the world.

Classical Latin then allows one to learn about the other stages of Latin: Late Antique, Medieval, and Ecclesiastical. Ultimately, the course presents itself as a tool for mastering the key to Latin culture in all its breadth.
